Cy started playing devilish rock guitar aged 13, moving onto a jazz tip some time later. Awarded ‘Best Jazz Guitarist’ at the Tauranga Jazz festival inspired him to concentrate on his musical career. Excessive practising led to a serious strain injury in both hands and left him unable to play, but what could have been a disastrous end, proved to be a blessing. Unable to use his hands, Cy found his voice.
With a trained jazz voice and the recovery of his injury, Cy creates a colourful musical canvass, including standards to contemporary tunes, bebop to bossa nova. His vocals and guitar talent offer a wide range of entertainment possibilities. This depth of service is furthered by his collaborations with other musicians, forming duos and trios which are ideal for weddings and occasions when quality, soft and back-groundy music is called for. For those occasions when a bigger sound is needed, saxophone, bass or drums are added to the melting pot.
