Amsterdam based Monte La Rue is an authority on laid backs styles. With over 25 relaxed compilations to his name, all of them oozing excellence and diversity, he’s acquired the title Lounge King of the Lowlands. His ‘Lounge Deluxe’ series (1999) become a classic and the basis for the acclaimed label Cinq Etoiles.
In 2003 Monte La Rue joined United Recordings introducing the label Disque Deluxe. A new series called Deluxe was born, with a catalogue of down tempo jewels including ‘Blossom’ and ‘New Wave Disco’ to its name.
Live collaborations between jazz-legend Louis Van Dijk and Michiel Borstlap kick started his fame. Monte’s DJing activities spread from regular club gigs to highbrow and sophisticated private parties around the globe. The breadth of his work as a producer and club DJ giving him visionary skills for creating tailor-made musical decor for major brands – Martini, Hilfiger, LancĂ´me, Louis Vuitton, Microsoft, Amsterdam Fashion Week, Bacardi, Arnem Fashion Institute, Vodaphone, Nokia and many others.
A regular contributor and reviewer for the DJ Broadcast site and Jazz magazine, Monte hosted the Deluxe radio show for many years. Following on from the success of his debut album ‘Interludia’ in 2002, he’s currently working on his second album. Other new projects include internet radio and planning some new and exciting releases for his Disque Deluxe label.
