London, September 2007
100 companies took part in the Bloomberg Square Mile relay, with 1000 competitors running a one mile circuit raising many thousands of pounds for various charities. The hazardous course included hairpin pin bends, winding staircases and a shopping arcade through the heart of the Square Mile of the City.
During the event, Velvet spurred the runners on with motivational music, keeping emotions pumped at the prize giving at Guildhall. Respect due to all the competitors, the good hearted spirit of the race did not dilute the participants’ competitiveness. The winning team from Legal and General’s completed the course in an impressive 53mins 16, with their first man running a 4.37 mile.
Jonathan Edwards, triple jump world record holder started the race and awarded the prizes. Velvet helped participants shake the lactic acid from their legs playing tunes which filled the dance floor. Despite their athleticism, they were happy to rehydrate with drinks from the bar.
