Jason Anderson was born in the Philippines and moved to England at the age of five. He began his musical studies in Piano and Composition at the prestigious Purcell School. During this time Jason won the BBC Guardian Young Composer of the Year (2004), performed for the Prince of Wales at Buckingham Palace, and also performed for the President of the Philippines.
In 2005 he received a full scholarship to study at the Boston University Tanglewood International Summer School and also began his professional studies at the Royal College of Music, studying Piano with Kathron Sturrock and Composition with Kenneth Hesketh.
In 2009 Jason commenced a Masters Degree in Composition at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama where he studied with James Weeks and graduated with Distinction. Whilst at the Guildhall Jason was awarded the Tracy Chadwell Memorial Prize for Composition and was a finalist in the Ivan Sutton Piano competition. On completion of his Post-Graduate studies he spent a further year as a Junior Fellow in Composition at the Guildhall and represented them at the Park Lane Group Young Composers Symposium at the Royal Festival Hall. Jason also had a composition performed by members of the BBC Symphony Orchestra as part of the BBC Total Emersion Weekend which was recorded for BBC Radio 3. In 2011 Jason’s 'Piano Quartet' was performed and recorded at the Dartington International Summer School where he was a scholarship student.
With his Duo partner, Emily Heathcote (Clarinet), he won the Sussex Recital Prize at Marlow Music Festival and they were finalists in the Tunbridge Wells Young International Concert Artists competition in 2010 and 2012. Other notable performances have included appearences at the Wigmore Hall, the Queen Elizabeth Hall, the Purcell Room, the National Portrait Gallery and the Victoria & Albert Museum. As a Composer Jason has had pieces performed in workshops with the London Sinfonietta, Exauldi Choir and Endymion Ensemble.
Since 2012 Jason has toured extensively on the Queen Mary 2 performing as Pianist alongside the Cellist Philip Handy.
