SOLID STEEL CARIBBEAN BAND

Solid Steel was born out of a love for the steel pan, and a desire to travel the world playing music; everything from pop and jazz through to more traditionally Caribbean music, particularly ‘calypso’, the national folk music of Trinidad & Tobago.We play Caribbean ‘steel pans’ or ‘steel drums’ which originally come from Trinidad & Tobago, though all our pans are hand-made by experts in the UK.

The best musicians playing these top-quality instruments are capable of amazingly beautiful sounds that are natural, organic and timeless.

In addition to our traditional repertoire, Solid Steel’s musicians are modern, progressive and versatile. As our playlist shows we cover an eclectic mix and we can provide vocals, perform in various sizes and guises, organise steel band workshops, or even create a bespoke experience.

As a 3-piece steel band we exclusively use steel drums, but we can augment the sound with other instruments as required. We can call on a large, established pool of professional players to provide any sized outfit to fit your requirements – all you need do is ask.
